TEQUILA
Madre Tequila is an additive-free tequila blanco, made in the spirit of what was once called ‘Vino de Mezcal de Tequila’. Drawing on lessons learned from making Madre Mezcal,  Madre Tequila is produced in the goal of emphasizing the natural agave flavor within the spirit.

In addition to careful craft, the conditions of the land provide Madre Tequila its natural flavors.
The agaves used are harvested from a single estate, located at some of the highest elevations in Jalisco, 7,500 feet above sea level, rough conditions, that result in the complexity and sweetness high quality tequilas are recognized for.

Harvested, only after the agaves first show ‘enrocimiento’, a reddish color in their leaves that signals they are nearly at peak ripeness, they are roasted in clay brick ovens, and then distilled using mineral-rich well water drawn from nearly 1,500 feet below surface.

Each step of the process offers natural flavors from the earth to the spirit, reflecting the way mezcal is made.

With a smooth mouthfeel, even at a still strength 48% abv (most tequilas are diluted to 38-40% abv), Madre Tequila offers a full bodied, sweet agave flavor that can shine through in a wide range of cocktails, or be savored when slowed sipped neat. Aromas of raw agave with a hint of citrus, evolve on the palate into notes of caramelized agave,and minerality.
Prior to the industrialization of tequila, which now allows additives such as glycerine, coloring and sweeteners to be included in products labeled 100% agave, all tequila was simply mezcal, made in the town of Tequila. Honoring tequila’s origins as mezcal, Madre Tequila joins a select number of brands that produce only additive-free tequila.
